See ya, bud

Bye winter...time for this to change to fresh buds and flowers and leaves!

Tree Synapses

Another shot from the cemetary, desaturated. The branches remind me of nerve synapses.

"Tiny" Shuttle

Submitted for PhotoFriday "Tiny" theme. I think this works on a couple levels--tiny toys, and space makes us feel so tiny.
I knew I couldn't compete with the macro shots, so I tried to get creative! :)

C.S.A.

For those of you not from the southern US, CSA is Confederate States of America, who fought for independence during the American Civil War, or War Between The States. I was touched that a fresh Confederate flag was placed at this headstone, which is almost 100 years old. I personally don't like the "Rebel flag" and what it says about condoning slavery. Many folks around here are still strongly proud of their heritage and fly the Rebel flag regularly. One day I'd like to head to the Confederate cemetary in Jonesboro, GA. This was taken in a small cemetary off the side of the road near my house.

Sticking My Neck Out

Jonathan and I enjoyed a hike at Reynold's Nature Preserve, not too far from my office. This guy lives in the nature center office, along with snakes and bees and other fun stuff. It was a gorgeous Spring day. I'll post more from here later.

Hey, hoser!

More from the air field. I wish the background weren't so blown out...oh well, it's all part of learning.

Continental

I've been enjoying learning about my new D70. I've already taken almost 200 photos (less than 1 week), though some of those were for work.
This comes from the local airfield. I've been watching this yellow plane for years. I finally stopped and took some shots of it. I love the contrast of the black engine and the bright cowling.

Up the Creek

A beautiful sunset when we were out Sunday evening!
Today I got my D70! Wow! I'm a bit overwhelmed...so much to learn! But, wow! The camera seems very intuitive to use and is so fast. I'll be working on new shots this week. I hope the weather clears up...cold and rainy right now.

Something about that face....

This photo sits on my desk at work. Taken near Bar Harbor, Maine a few years ago on a lobster boat. My daughter is gorgeous, although when she had short hair when she was little folks couldn't tell if she was a boy or girl.
Submitted for Photofriday theme "Faces."
In other news, I bought a digital SLR, Nikon D70. It's shipping to me tomorrow from Bob at NoTraces. Thanks Bob! I'm already looking at things with new eyes, preparing for shots with the new gear.

(Ele)Phant-astic!

Grandma treated the family to the circus a couple of weekends ago. It was a lot of fun (even Annemarie enjoyed it!). Jonathan was wide-eyed the whole time, as were the adults. :)

Ferris Fair

I stopped by the fair the other day, right around sunset. The Ferris wheel was pretty in the fading light.
