Catching Some Rays

There was a nice sunset during the Braves game Saturday. Took this with my 70-300 zoom lens.

SkyDome Elephant

Okay...I swear this happened. I was having dinner back in July at SkyDome (RogersCentre) in Toronto. Looking down from Hard Rock Cafe, we saw an elephant and a little girl. They kept walking in and out and looking out through the dome. We didn't know what was going. We thought maybe they were practicing for the circus.

Fast forward to Sunday. I'm watching NFL football and a commercial comes on for Texas Instruments DLP technology. It has this girl and this elephant, looking up at the sky to the DLP light. I was stunned...and recognized it immediately! You can see the girl and elephant at the ad at the top of this page ti.com .

"Fall In"

More from a recent Civil War reenactment that took place just south of Atlanta. This sergeant was getting his troops ready to march off to battle. I thought the uniforms were well done, and that B/W was fitting. It looked better than sepia.

Steeple Chase

This is the steeple of a chapel at a school in Virginia. The curving brick rises well into the sky and is very attractive. I didn't go inside, but there was nice stained glass, too. Maybe next time I'm up there.

ND-GT Collage

My mom treated me and my daughter to tickets to the Notre Dame-Georgia Tech game Saturday night. My brother and his wife and former college roommate invited us to tailgate with them beforehand. It was a lot of fun! Thanks Mom and bro.

Here are a couple scenes from the day....some Irish fans, some Tech fans, the final score, and my bro and his roommate. It wasn't a particularly well-played game by ND, but the score ended up the right way :-D

Shooting was difficult. I didn't want to use the flash, and the lighting was pretty harsh. I ended up going to 800 ISO and leaving the lens wide open. Some of these were shot at 200 speed, so that's why I think they were a little fuzzy. But, good memories nonetheless.

Air Sunset

Flying home from Virginia the other night, I saw this sunset. I try to sit on the window side of the plane on the sunset/sunrise side whenever I fly. Usually I don't see anything decent, or can't get a good shot. Every once in a while, something decent.

I think this one is decent enough, and I really needed to put something up!
