A photoblog. "MexiPickle" is a twisted version of "megapixel," which I felt was appropriate for this site. Thanks for the inspiration, Fred.

Lights of My Life
This may not be the most stunning photo of the year, but it's definitely my favorite. Annemarie, 11, and Jonathan, 4, on the beach in Oceanside this summer. Submitted to PhotoFriday for Best of 2004.
Another thing I've always loved is advertising painted on buildings, like this or on barns like I saw when I lived in Kentucky. I don't know how long this has been on this building, but it's been there at least the 11+ years we've lived in Stockbridge.
The mill is more visible in this shot. I am always intrigued by the ingenuity of folks who developed technology so long ago and in such elegant ways. I love the resourcefulness and the inherent longevity of the design...as long as there's water, there's power.
I pass Rex Mill every day on my way to work and back. I have long wanted to shoot it, and last Saturday was the perfect day for it. This waterfall used to feed the waterwheel at the Mill. I have long wanted to take a shot like this. This one makes me smile!
After being inspired by sits like Orbit1, Chromasia, NoTraces, ddoi, and Houser, I finally went out on a "photo only" mission. Not a "take the camera along when we go to the store" photo session...but actually looking for photos. I really enjoyed it--I haven't done that for years! I hope I do that more. If you look behind the falls, you'll see the former home of Rex Furniture Company. They made the famous "Kennedy Rocker" used by JFK during his presidency. Sadly, Rex Furniture succumbed to foreign import competition and closed a few years ago after about 100 years in business.
