Shadow Scrapers

The shore line of Chicago as viewed to the north from the Hancock Tower. I like the sky scraper shadows pointing toward the water, stretching to reach the beautiful wet stuff.
Shooting through a dirty window puts all kinds of gunk in the shot...I only cleaned up a little bit of it.

Flattop

Ever heard of a flat top guitar? I hadn't. This man also did most of the singing with the Skillet Lickers.

Fiddlin' Around

More of the Skillet Lickers band. This man's grandfather had a band with the same name. One of my friends (age 84) remembers hearing them play when he was 9. I thought that was cool!

The Skillet Lickers

We were invited to a 90th birthday celebration, and live bluegrass was the entertainment. This is The Skillet Lickers, and I sure enjoyed their music. A fiddle, banjo, harmonica, mandolin, flat top guitar, and two guitars really made some pretty music. I'll post more of The Skillet Lickers in the next few days.

Diamond Bean

Two different views of the same building....one a reflection in The Bean (or what's left of it exposed) at Millenium Park in Chicago. The kids had fun playing in the fountain.

Beach Combers

A lucky shot of seagulls circling. Until I looked at the shots on the computer, I didn't know I had 3 birds, nor in this array.

Chicago Sky

I have two shots like this, this one and one without the city at the bottom. I think I like this one better, but I'm interested in your thoughts.

Navy Pier

A view of the end of Navy Pier, in Chicago. We took a boat tour of the shore around Chicago and learned quite a bit about the history of the area. Nothing beat the weather, though!

Blue and Gold

I have been on vacation for a week, in case any of you stopped by and saw the same pic each time. We spent several days at the University of Notre Dame, with side trips to Chicago and Indiana Dunes. This is by far my favorite pic from ND. I'll be posting more from there, as well as Navy Pier and the Dunes in the next several days.
This is the ceiling inside the Basilica of Sacred Heart at Notre Dame. If you're ever in NW Indiana, check it out, as well as the rest of the great architecture at ND. Of course, the first time my wife and kids visited, they had the golden dome scaffolded...could only see Mary on top. :(

Memorial

A little late for Memorial Day, but the sentiment remains. Thanks to all our veterans who have served our country, especially to those who have sacrificed themselves for our freedom.
