Veteran

Another participant in the Civil War battle re-enactment. Of course, some Southerners call it "The War of Northern Aggression."
The funny thing is, I think I know this guy. But I didn't recognize him until I got home and looked at the pictures larger.

Preparing for Battle

A. and I went to a Civil War battle reenactment this weekend, just a spur of the moment thing. There were three guys who were taking part for the first time. The platoon leader called them forward and 'initiated' them. They opened a shot of gunpowder into their hands, spit into it, rubbed their hands together, and smeared the whole thing on their cheeks. After making sure that they didn't smoke (or light a match) the platoon leader welcomed them.

There were lots of cannons and soldiers. It was pretty interesting, and I was surprised to see how many folks took part, dressing up as soldiers or civilians from the Civil War era. We didn't get to stay to see the actual battle, but I can see going back again some time.

Forward Knife Strike

The instructor at J's Tae Kwon Do school gave an exhbition prior to everyone testing. He did several moves, breaking two layers of 1/2" plywood. Here he's doing the 'forward knife strike' move (I think). Troy's skills are pretty impressive, and he's a very nice guy.

Make 7Up Yours

This is actually what got me to stop as I was driving through SC the other day, then I explored the building a little. Something about old, rusty signs gets me...soda, gas stations, beer, whatever.

Weathered

I was driving home from a meeting, going through the middle of nowhere in South Carolina. This building called to me as I was driving by. I've got a few shots of it that I'll be putting up in the next few days.

Toronto Bridge

Another shot from Toronto. I wish I'd had my tripod. I loved the design of this bridge, the skyscrapers behind it, and all the lights. A bit blurry, but I think you get the gist of things.

All in a Row

This is a section of seats at SkyDome (Rogers Centre) in Toronto. Shot from our dinner table in Hard Rock Cafe...not bad duty!

Geometry

This collage of buildings struck me with its mix of squares, rectangles, and angles.

Yellow Rope

More from the Harbourfront in Toronto. I think it would be fun to sail on this ship....four masts.
