Merry Christmas from Us to Y'all

My family, including me (which is rare!). In fact, this may be the first time I've put a pic of me up on this site. This was taken at church in Decatur. A is 13, J is 6. My wife and I just are.

Merry Christmas to all our web friends. We wish you all the blessings of the season and a prosperous 2007!

Used and Ned

This sign caught my attention a while ago...my family didn't notice the error until I pointed it out. The funny part is that the other side is done right. I wonder why they never fixed this side. Do you think they did this on purpose?

Farm Gate

I fulfilled my most recent photography desire a couple weeks ago...I got a Tokina 12-24 wide angle lens. After seeing what RegularJoe does with his (and borrowing his lens), I had to have one. I finally saved up enough, and it came about 2 weeks ago. Then, I've gone crazy 'cuz I haven't had a chance to use it! I finally tried it out on Saturday. This was one of the shots, at 19 mm. Not as wide as it can go, but I really like the clarity.
I wish I had used some fill flash on the gate to highlight the green paint. Oh well...live and learn. I think I'm going to enjoy this lens!

Morning Dew-ings

More from the early morning yesterday. I was a little late to say this was "dawn" but it was still early enough to be early light.

Georgia Silo

I was up early today to take my daughter to an appointment. On the way back, I stopped to capture the sun rise near this farm.

Purple Fountains Majesty

There is a light show done with fountains at the lake shared by the Bellagio and Caesar's Palace. It was tough getting decent shots, but I like the lighting in this one. They play Christmas carols and the lights and spray dances to the music. It goes off every fifteen minutes or so. It was kind of nice, a little break from the casinos and their glitz.

If It Walks Like A Duct...

When I got to Vegas, I was dying to take some photos. But, I only had time to check in, check the view, grab a bite, and then head to a meeting. I shot this from the window of my hotel room. The Paris balloon is the same one in the night shot I posted recently.

Caesar's Streaks

A shot from the sidewalk looking back toward Caesar's Palace (obviously). A ten second exposure, to get the light tracks from the tail lights.

Balloon Tower

I was walking down the street in Vegas and ran across this combination. For a second, I thought I was in Paris, France....er, not. Look closely at the balloon to see if you can see the faces in the balloon. Really...they're there!

Sunset Spotlight

Work has been brutal for a while now. Last week saw me working 'til midnight a few days, followed by a trip to Las Vegas for a weekend conference...very little free time. I did take my camera and my tripod, but before I could head out for some night shots, I was able to grab a couple frames from the hotel window. The overall view was of the roof, but as the sun was setting, this building next door was lit up beautifully.
I'll post a couple night shots of the Vegas lights in the next few days.
