Miracles
More from Mt. Pleasant, NC.
I guess it's a good thing to be able to get miracles done when you get your hair done.....?
When I lived in eastern Kentucky (back when film was all we had), I always wanted to do a series of pictures of store front windows in the small towns I drove through. I never did that. The other day, when driving through this small town in North Carolina, I was struck by the fabulous fonts and signs in just the few stores at this crossroads. Maybe I'll revive that photo series idea and spend more time shooting store fronts in the small towns I drive through.

Counting to Ten
Goofing around while visiting with family at Christmas time. We usually rent a conference room in a hotel, which gives us room for dinner and gift-giving. The best part, though, is the access to the indoor pool that comes with the room! We all end up at the pool, either swimming or visiting, or both, in the warm, humid air. It is very sleep-inducing! There is also a pool table and air hockey and a hot tub...something for everyone. That's my shoe, of course, and my niece's toes.

Boat O' Balls
Glass balls in a boat floating in pond at the Phipps Conservatory, Pittsburgh. So very colorful! I'm not sure I captured all of it's beauty. This is what was in the boat shown in this shot.

Licorice
More of the Chihuly glass at Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh. The first few times I looked at this, I thought it was way out of focus. Then I realized there was a clear glass sheath around the yellow glass interior. Pretty cool! Wonder how they do that....
Oh, and all the shots of the Chihuly art were taken using a monopod, since tripods were not allowed in the Conservatory.

Through The Weeds
I am having a hard time coming up with titles to these shots because I want to call them all "Stunning"--that's the word I keep coming back to when trying to describe the Chihuly glass at Pittsburgh's Phipps Conservatory. In case you didn't hear me last time, GO SEE IT!
I just realized....Phipps probably wouldn't appreciate my characterization of these plants as "weeds"--they aren't--but I don't know what they are called. My apologies!

Stunning Part 1
The first of many photos I'll be posting from our visit to the Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh. The glass of Dale Chihuly is amazing...but the overwhelming art is the way the glass pieces are intermingled with the plants of the Conservatory. There are different rooms with different color schemes, allowing for different plants to be used with the different glass pieces. If you have a chance, make a point to visit a Chihuly glass exhibit. The one at Phipps is there until February. See it here.

Carriage Lane
It's been a while since I posted anything, but I have been checking in on the photos y'all have been posting. Happy New Year everyone!
We got to spend a week or so visiting family in the Pittsburgh area, and northwest of there. My in-laws live in an area that has quite a few Amish folks. I respect their desire not to be photographed, which is hard sometimes! I have always loved the buggies they drive, and with a snowy day on Wednesday, I was able to shoot this from my in-laws' driveway as the sun was coming up.
I'll be posting lots from our trip, including Chihuly glass at the Conservatory and dinosaurs from Carnegie Museum. See you soon!
